Inside Politics: who will win the UK general election?
The FT’s Inside Politics newsletter joined forces with the Political Fix podcast for a special FT Live event answering FT subscribers’ questions ahead of the UK’s general election. Political Fix host Lucy Fisher was joined by Inside Politics’ author Stephen Bush, political editor George Parker and columnist Camilla Cavendish for a discussion and Q&A.
We discussed the fallout from the May 2 local and mayoral elections – including whether Sir Keir Starmer’s Labour party has lived up to expectations, and whether prime minister Rishi Sunak will face a leadership challenge from within the Conservative party. We also looked ahead to the general election, and asked whether Labour is on course for an historic landslide with a 20-point lead predicted by opinion polls, and what the Tories can do to avert that. We picked apart the main parties’ policy proposals and identified their potential weak spots.
